Bouyiourdi in the wood oven – Greek dish of baked feta

  • 200 grams feta cheese (in pieces)
  • 5 cherry tomatoes (each one cut in 4)
  • a bit of green pepper bell (cut in stripes)
  • olive oil (preferably)
  • hot pepper or chili flakes (preferably)
  • 1 pinch of oregano
  • pepper (preferably)
  1. In a clay pot add feta, cherry tomatoes and the pepper bell in two layers.
  2. Add olive oil, hot pepper or chili flakes, oregano and freshly grated pepper.
  3. Make sure to cover the pot well, with aluminum foil.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven, at 200℃, set on fan, for 15 minutes. If you want to, you can bake it for another 5 minutes, without the aluminum foil, to golden.
  5. Once baked, you can either stir so you can melt the feta entirely, to make it look like a cream or you can either eat it as it is, using a spoon! Before you serve it, you can add extra oregano and raw olive oil.
  6. You can also serve it on top of scorched bread.
