Mince and rice

  • 200 grams mixed mince
  • 300 grams rice (Carolina)
  • 1 liter water (or hot broth)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 50-100 grams Cretan gruyére (grated)
  • 1 white onion (chopped)
  • salt (preferably)
  • pepper (preferably)
  • cumin (preferably)
  • cinnamon (preferably)
  • olive oil (preferably)
  1. Put olive oil in a frying pan and add the mince. Roast for 10 minutes over high heat and season with salt and pepper. Remove mince in another bowl.
  2. In the same frying pan, put the onion and soften it, over low heat, until golden.
  3. Add rice and golden it for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Dilute the tomato paste with some hot water and add it into the frying pan.
  5. Let it boil and lower the heat over medium. Season with spices.
  6. When there is little liquid, turn off the heat and add grated gruyére and mix.
  1. Roast the mince well, to golden and become tasty.
  2. Taste the rice to see if it is boiled. Add water, if needed.
  3. Add some butter along with the gruyére, if you like.
  4. It’s too easy to make it!
